What’s a Cuckoo Anyway?
It seems for some of our fans/followers/listeners the reference to the cuckoo in The Cuckoo Gene is not fully understood. Those of us who grew up in the countryside or are aware of stories and songs based in folklore and mythology know about the cuckoo’s child rearing behaviour, or lack thereof. For anyone who is still perplexed have a look at this. It should make everything abundantly clear.

FEAR OF DRINKING ON VANCOUVER ISLAND

We had a great time doing Fear of Drinking Live Shows on Vancouver Island in February. Tim was reunited with original members Tom Neville and Gerard Kerr for this trip. Thanks to everyone in Port Alberni at Char’s Landing and in Parksville at Ground Zero. Here’s a few photos. Film maker Deborah Angrave recorded the show in Port Alberni so we’re looking forward to seeing that footage.

TIM AND PRAIRIE WOLFE

Tim played his first gig with the fab Prairie Wolfe on fiddle since around 2005 last week at Folk Music on the Beach at the Hollyburn Sailing Centre in West Vancouver. The audience loved the selection of trad and contemporary folk songs and Scottish and Cape Breton fiddle tunes. We have more gigs coming up – depending of course on the status of the COVID-19 virus pandemic. You can see details here.

IRISH TOURISM GIG

Here’s a snap from the show Tim did with Máirtín de Cógáin, and Dave Clark for Irish Tourism in January.

SOUTHHILL CANDY SHOP

We were sent this poster from Vancouver’s iconic and much missed Main Street venue which immediately reminded us of this song, dating back to the days when Tim and Allison Russell were singing together there regularly.
