Tim Readman and Shannon Johnson
Shannon Johnson began studying violin at the age of three and quickly demonstrated an exceptional ability. She has won classical violin and fiddling awards at national and international levels. Shannon began performing professionally at the age of eight, wowing music fans and critics with her strong, pure playing and exceptional improvisational skills.
Shannon is a member of the Juno award winning group The McDades. Within The McDades, Shannon has found the ideal vehicle for composing; blending classical, Celtic and Canadian, she has created a completely new and powerful genre of label-bending music. As a lead vocalist, her sweet jazz-influenced style adds a rich texture to The McDades hip, global sound. Shannon has become one of Western Canada’s most in-demand record producers, her special understanding of acoustic music and global styles can be heard on a number of award winning CDs.
Shannon joined Tim for several Fear of Drinking shows back in the noughties. Since then they have built on their mutual love of Celtic folk music and their raucous sense of humour to create a duo that will send you on a musical and emotional roller-coaster ride.
