Tim Readman and Hugh Ellenwood

I first saw fiddler Hugh Ellenwood play in the band Clambake in the Kino Cafe on Cambie Street, Vancouver, BC sometime in the early 90’s. They played there a lot and it was fun times. We both ended up playing after that in Main Street’s most happening room, the SouthHill Candy Shop, which sadly burned down. Clambake and Fear of Drinking would both pack the place and crazy dancing and sing-alongs were the norm. Hugh and me would often bump into each other and drink a couple of pink ladies and eventually we got together to play music. We were close neighbours for a few years – he lived across the back lane – and we did a couple of St. Patrick’s nights on Main Street, Vancouver, BC at The Public Lounge and The Cascade, in the late noughties. At the Public Lounge show we were joined by Craig McKerron of  The Eventually Brothers and by Vin Garbutt.
Hugh played with The Mountain Bluebirds and is currently with 5 On a String and Farm Team.
